Think Inclusive Joins MCIE as Official Blog
Here is what you need to know about Think Inclusive becoming MCIE's official blog.
Hey Y’all,
[GIF Description] late-night talk show host Seth Myers is sitting at his desk and raising his finger, saying, “I have an announcement!”
What a year.
If you told me in January that I would leave my job at the school district and join a nonprofit organization based in Maryland known for systems change in education as the Director of Communications, TBH I probably would have been ecstatic (because that is precisely how I feel right now.)
In a year that has brought on little to celebrate, in my small corner of the world, there is a reason for hope.
What is the news?
Here are the basics.
MCIE has hired me as their Director of Communications
Think Inclusive becomes MCIE’s official blog to promote inclusive education and best practices
The reputation of systems change in education by MCIE, and the digital and social media reach of Think Inclusive make this pairing a powerful voice for advocacy and information dissemination
In case you don’t know about MCIE, here is a little bit about the organization.
Founded in 1988, MCIE's initial efforts were focused on community organizing and administrative advocacy. As we've grown, so have our services and expertise. Today, MCIE successfully promotes effective and inclusive education practices in Maryland, across the United States and internationally! We develop partnerships with school districts and state agencies; and we collaborate with universities, advocacy agencies, professional organizations, and a variety of disability groups. We assist schools in their work to improve instruction and social/behavioral supports, and we share current information on evidence-based educational practices. Through our customized services, we provide solutions for inclusive education at the system, school and student level.

What does this mean?
Things are going to change for the better.
Think Inclusive will be getting a newly designed website (without ads) through the MCIE rebranding process. The Weeklyish is now FREE for everyone, no subscription necessary (you can still expect posts on a WeEkLyIsH basis). And the Think Inclusive Podcast will continue to be produced about monthly (we will get back to a regular schedule in October).
Ultimately, the partnership with MCIE will bring you more in-depth information on how to create and sustain systems change for your school districts. Inclusive education is not only possible, but it is happening authentically all around the United States. Think Inclusive and MCIE are here to tell you about it.
Inclusion is more important now than ever
Inclusion always builds bridges, not barriers. Right now, there are too many barriers.
How can you help?
It would be great for you to reply to this email and let us know what you are thinking. What is exciting about the partnership between Think Inclusive and MCIE? What kind of information would be the most useful? Your replies will help as we plan out our content and editorial calendar.
If you are feeling generous, you can donate to MCIE. Running Think Inclusive was never free, but now supporting it is tax-deductible.
